Tap dance has a long history and was particularly popular during the Vaudeville era of the early 20th Century, and the Jazz and Swing era of the 1930s and 1940s, where some steps even found their way into the Lindy Hop. Solo Tap consists of percussive jazz steps performed to different rhythms.
