SHIM SHAM WORKSHOP

19/11/2025

The most iconic swing routine arrives in Senigallia with Carolina and Lucy

Waiting for Summer Jamboree kicks off on the right foot — or rather, with all the right steps!
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the new season opens with a special event dedicated to one of the most beloved routines of all time: the Shim Sham, the signature choreography of swing culture.

📅 Saturday, November 15, 2025
⏰ 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 Lapsus, Via Bonopera 37 – Senigallia
(just across from the train station, a short walk from the Rocca Roveresca and the Rotonda a Mare)

💃 With Carolina and Lucy

Guiding dancers on this journey through time will be Carolina and Lucy, passionate Swing and Lindy Hop instructors and performers, ready to share all the energy and joy of this collective dance.

The workshop is open to everyone—beginners, the curious, and experienced dancers—and offers a unique opportunity to discover (or rediscover) the magic of a routine that has connected swing communities across the world for nearly a century.

🎷 What is the Shim Sham?

Born in the 1920s thanks to Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant, the Shim Sham was originally a tap dance routine.
In the 1980s, under the influence of the legendary Frankie Manning, it became a universal line dance, known as the “national anthem of swing dancers.”
Today, it is danced at every swing festival worldwide—a symbol of belonging, freedom, and pure shared joy.
