Thursday 5 August
Piazza Garibaldi – 21:30.
Headlining the Festival this year in an incredible national exclusive appearance is the super-talented Pokey LaFarge, performing one night only in Italy on 5 August.
With his irresistible original brand of American roots music, Pokey LaFarge will perform a special solo concert in a national exclusive appearance at the Summer Jamboree XXI.
Drawing from Western Swing, Early Jazz, and Country Blues, genres which he considers “expressive and powerful”, Pokey La Farge is one of few artists to have an unmistakable sound, and that certain ‘something’ that is instantly recognisable in his songs.
Born in Illinois in 1983, LaFarge’s singer-songwriter talents have refreshed the landscape of American roots music, and drawn a new generation of listeners to the genre.
His music has breathed life into the legacies of Chicago and New Orleans, from the birth of the Blues to the evolution of Jazz, and down the winding country road of Western Swing.
As he gained his musical education on the road performing all over the United States of America, his popularity grew and grew. He released his debut (self-produced) album in 2006. In 2011, he was spotted by White Stripes’ Jack White who invited him to open his tour and the rest, as they say, is history. LaFarge made his way into the hearts of fans around the world.
With a blend of genres (swing, folk, country, jazz) and a unique style all of his own, his followers appreciate his ability (akin only to great artists) to personalise his music so that whatever style or genre it may be, it is recognisably him.
Amongst his awards, LaFarge has won two Independent Music Awards for Best Album “Americana”, and the Ameripolitan Music Award for Best Male Voice – Western Swing, in 2017.
His last album “Rock Bottom Rhapsody” was released in 2020.
Pokey LaFarge will be on stage in Piazza Garibaldi Thursday, 5 August for your musical pleasure.
