Level Guide

Dance camp

To ensure everyone has an engaging learning experience, the Summer Jamboree Dance Camp courses are divided into four different levels. We invite you to read the descriptions below carefully in order to choose the lessons that are best for you.

Level 1

Level 1 is for people who have never danced before, or people that haven’t been dancing for very long, or who aren’t that confident with the basics yet. It is also ideal for those who want to start again after a long break, or return to the fundamental basics. You will learn the basic steps, the structure of the dance and the first elements of connection with the partner, whilst having fun of course!

Level 2

Level 2 is aimed for people who have already covered the basics and are familiar with the basic steps, roles (leader/follower) and musical structure. At this level you will begin to work towards a higher awareness of rhythm, technique and coordination, consolidating everything that you have learnt so far and beginning to experiment with the first variations.

Level 3

Level 3 is intended for those who have been dancing for a while and have a solid grasp of the basics. At this level you will explore technique, musicality and connection, tackle new combinations and rhythmic variations, and begin to develop personal style.

Level 4

Level 4 is for experienced dancers who would like to explore style, precision and creativity. The material will be varied, sophisticated and technically challenging. This level requires a solid grasp of the fundamentals, a good understanding of rhythm, advanced technical ability, and an open mind when it comes to creative exploration. You will work on complex combinations, quality of movement, and musical interpretation.

*Important! Please Note!
At the Summer Jamboree Dance Camp there are no auditions and levels are not assigned by teachers. Levels are chosen directly by participants at the time of registration. Out of respect for the teachers and your classmates — and to better enjoy the experience yourself — we kindly ask you to refer to this guide and evaluate your level honestly. Choosing the right level will allow you to learn more, have more fun, and make a valuable contribution to the quality of the entire group.
