Yes, that’s right, your eyes aren’t deceiving you – BIG BOY BLOATER is returning to his roots in this special gig to celebrate 20 years of The Summer Jamboree with two stalwarts of the roots music scene Al Gare & Dean Beresford for a show packed full of boogie!
Big Boy Bloater (Guitar/Vocals) has been a well-known face on the retro music scene since the early 90’s with his band the Southside Stompers. ‘One of the great blues men of our time’, Bloater was also band leader for years at the infamous Rhythm Riot where he played with many legends of the 1950s including Young Jessie, Billy Lee Riley, The Teenagers, The Five Keys, The Cleftones, Lazy Lester, in fact the list is endless. These days Bloater can usually be seen fronting his regular band The LiMiTs and has the likes of Jools Holland and Imelda May in his fanclub!
Dean Beresford (Drums) has been a member of Richard Hawley’s band for the past 13 years and Pete Williams’ (ex-Dexys Midnight Runners) for the past 18. He was part of the band that launched Imelda May’s solo career (appearing on her award-winning debut album ‘Love Tattoo’) and has performed and recorded with numerous artists including Duane Eddy, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).
Al Gare (Double Bass). For the past 30 years Al Gare – otherwise known as ‘The face of Bass’ – has travelled the universe playing live and recording, laying down his unmistakable sound with artistes such as King Pleasure, Mike Sanchez, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck, Slim Jim phantom, Imelda May, Rebel Dean and long-time collaborator Big Boy Bloater to name a few.
